By the time the new thin version of PSP will release on September, the old PSP will be phased out from production. This has been confirmed by Sony.
The newly designed PSP will replace the original PSP design starting in September with the $169.99 PSP Core Pack and the $199.99 Daxter PSP Entertainment Pack.

 In response to the challenge from the war of Game Consoles, Microsoft reacts with project Falcon. Falcon is the name for the latest internal electronics in the Xbox 360. It will have an IBM microprocessor and an AMD/ATI graphics chip that are manufactured in a 65-nanometer production process. These are cost-reduced chips that do the same thing as their 90-nanometer predecessors, but they’re smaller.

 The slim PSP version from Sony has passed the FCC inspection. It looks like the new model, which Sony is calling the PSP-2001. No big surprises in the filing, although it looks like this new PSP will only be able to output game video via component, while UMD and Memory Stick movies get composite output as well. |
