It looks small in size, but the actual screen size (3.5") is good, it handles 30GB of data which is also very positive. The battery is rechargeable (duh) and for audio only it can play for 18 hours, if you're watching video the battery lifetime is reduced to 5 hours. The launch date is September, and the price is $349. Good quality and not too expensive, good choice for people that are in need of a PMC. |

Philips has released the SA1200 DAP to appeal to the average music listeners everywhere. Nothing to spectacular or fancy about this one, it plays music. Easy enough. The SA1200 is powered by an AAA battery, includes a tiny LCD screen, can play back MP3, WMA and WAV and record audio with an integrated mic. It is available now at some places for $65 or so and comes in 512MB and 1GB flavors.
The Philips SA1200 runs on an AAA battery, but only for 8 hours at the stretch (according to Philips, that's "an entire day"). In addition, it comes with a small, 32 x 128 pixels LCD and a built-in microphone (records into ADPCM WAV), weighs 30 grams though dimensions are currently unknown.
