Along with the F2 series, Asus also launched another Merom-based laptops, the V1 series. Measures 36.3 x 26.3 x 2.5 ~ 3.57 cm and weighs 2.7 kg, this ultra-slim 15.4-inch notebook features a Mobile Intel 945PM Express chipset, up to 2GB of DDR2 RAM, up to 120GB of SAtA HDD, and either 256MB or 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics card. As for the processor, the whole Merom's Core2 Duo family, except the Xtreme version, can be selected to power up the machine, including T5500, T5600, T7200, and T7400 processor. When it comes to connectivity, users have the options for 802.11a/b/g Wireless LAN, Ethernet LAN, and Bluetooth V2.0 + EDR. As for the security, the V1 laptop offers a biometric fingerprint reader, along with Asus Security Protect Manager feature which allows users to set up multi-level data access authentication. Furthermore, the machine is equipped with either Windows XP Home or Professional edition operating system. No words on pricing and availibility in US yet.
