Road (Remote Office Access Device), a German-based phone manufacturer, has just unveiled the S101 Linux-based Smartphone which could be a Nokia Communicator killer. Incorporated Trolltech' Qtopia GUI, this quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE cell phone features a 640×240 internal LCD display, 102×65 monochrome external display, QWERTY keyboard, a 2 megapixel camera module, PC synchronisation, and both WiFI and Bluetooth connectivity. It is powered by an Intel PXA264 400Mhz processor, 64MB of RAM, and 64MB of ROM.

Pantech's PN-218 cell phone is going to make its way to the US market through Alltel Wireless. This clamshell handset, measures 3.02 x 2.15 x 0.96 inches, sports a bright colors LCD display, a VGA camera module with flash and zoom capability, Ringtone shuffler and ringtone/picture caller ID functions, and high-speed data transmission. Comes with a rugged construction, the phone won't give you any hassle during outdoor activities.

Pantech plans to ramp up sales in the U.S. by 20% in 2006, through a greater focus on developing its brand awareness and an increase in direct supplies to major service operators. If you remember, lately the company has also managed to get its phone coming to Canada, using Pantech own branding.

There have been so many variant of Motorola's RAZR cell phone already - remember the one with Gold or even one with Maradona? - but it seems that the company thought that there weren't enough yet. So please welcome, the latest member of RAZR line-up, the fashionable Tattoed RAZR. That's right. Later this year, supposedly near Christmas, Motorola will start offering RAZR phones with variety of tattoos embedded on the body of the phone. However, only a few tattoo designs have been revealed, such as Japanese crest, traditional floral, and the traditional dragon (image above).

The tattoos of the RAZR phones are designed by Ami James of Miami Ink fame, will be laser etched into the cover of the phone. This way, you have to choose the design carefully since there's no way to replace the tattoo once you get bored with it, except purchasing a new RAZR phone of course.

Remember the Excalibur Smartphone from HTC? Well, now take a look at this JAQ Smartphone from i-Mate. At a glance, this Windows Mobile-based phone looks similar to the Excalibur. There's no official explanation from i-Mate yet, but the company is used to re-badge and re-brand HTC phones, so the prediction is probably correct. However, to be fair, the specs is not quite matches. Apart from the slightly different button layout, the JAQ also comes with a larger 2.8-inch LCD screen, while Excalibur only has 2.4-inch display. Both phones are powered by TI OMAP850 (200MHz) processor though. So, what do you think?

Last week there was the Hello Kitty edition of BenQ-Siemens AL26 cell phone. Who might guess that yesterday, BenQ already announced another fashionable variant of this handset, the Butterfly edition. Measures 86.8 x 45.8 x 19.2 mm, the tri-band GSM (900/1800/1900) phone comes with a nice and eye-catching butterfly design made of pearl shell. On the inside, several beatiful buttefly wallpapers are included as well.

Planned to hit the Europe and Latin America store in the middle of September 2006, AL26 Butterfly phone also features a large 130×130 65K colors TFT LCD display, diary, reminder, polyphonic ringtone, curreny calculator, SMS/MMS, and PC synchronization capability via USB connection. Weighs 77.9 grams, it has 1.5mb of onboard memory and a Li-Ion battery that provides up to 300 minutes talk time and up to 220 hours standby time.
