Samsung To Release SCH-B570 Music Phone
Thursday, 14 September 2006

Well, to begin with, allow me to tell you the B570 is the best CDMA phone I've ever knew. It can playback both audio and video files, display pictures, and even lets you watch satellite TV programme through its built-in DMB receiver. TV show and movie can be displayed on PiP (Picture-in-Picture) mode. To store the media files, a whopping 8GB of HDD is provided. It is enough to store around 1600 music files (4MB each), 16 PMP movies (400MB each), and 20,000 pictures (300KB).

The SCH-B570 also gives you a superb audio experience with 5.1-channel virtual stereo and 3D stereo sound. You can choose stereo sound by controlling the location of five speakers on the screen. There's also a "Morning-Call Motion Recognition Snooze" function when, upon making alarm in the morning, you can shake it a few times and it will automatically stop the alarm and start waking you again in a few minutes.

Other features packed on the phone include a variety of multimedia content, including psychology test, Chinese character dictionary, and motion recognition games.

The Nokia 6136 Wi-Fi
Monday, 11 September 2006

The Nokia 6136 was among the first Nokia mobile phones to offer UMA capabilities, to allow seamless handovers of voice and data connections between GSM cellular and WLAN networks. In other words, it combines the benefits of mobile and fixed landline through voice over WLAN.

The phone, a clamshell, quad-band GSM model with a 1.3 megapixel camera, will be out during the second quarter, and will initially be available on the Orange network. The phone is primarily targeted at corporate customers who can deploy the phone for use both as a cellphone for external use, and as a VoIP phone within company facilities.

“UMA technology truly brings simplicity in the usage of voice over IP,” says Peter Ropke, Nokia’s Senior Vice President of Mobile Phones R&D. “This pilot project is an important step forward in bringing functional UMA technology to the mass market. Both operators and consumers will be able to garner the benefits of this new technology.
