Trusted Reviews reviews the Samsung SGH-E900 and writes, "Music playback and the camera are both disappointing ... The camera, whose lens is on the back of the casing and invisible unless you open the slider, takes a while to get going after you press its shortcut button, and there is a noticeable shutter lag which means you need to hold the phone still for a second or so after pressing to shoot an image. This will be annoying if you like candid snaps and you'll get some image blurring if you are not careful."

The Samsung SCH-A990 takes gorgeous, high-res pictures outdoors in sunlight, plays music, shows mobile TV, and even makes pretty good phone calls. Unfortunately, its very slow autofocus and other quirks, such as the lack of file transfer options, mean it still can’t quite replace a good digital camera.
The Samsung SCH-A990 boasts a 3.2-megapixel camera with autofocus and video-recording capabilities. The EV-DO handset also supports Verizon’s 3G services, has integrated Bluetooth, a swivel screen, a speakerphone, and good call quality.
The Samsung SCH-A990 is a multimedia mobile, and there are signs all over the phone to reflect its entertaining side. On the left spine, are rewind, play/pause, and fast-forward keys for the music player, a headset jack and a Micro SD card slot. We should note that you can’t plug the headset into the phone directly; rather it requires a separate adapter. Fortunately, that’s included, but it’s still an inconvenient step, in our opinion. Speakers are located on both sides of the phone.

MobileTechReview reviews the Samsung t509 and talks about the phone's camera: "The t509's camera is also a standout among cell phones. Although it is only VGA resolution (640 x 480), the camera features a variety of effects and modes rarely found on cell phone or PDA cameras, such as sepia tone, black-and-white, and sketch, which make it possible to create a variety of unique photograph styles. I also found the sharpness of the camera's focus to be above average. Rounding out the camera system is a fairly standard 4x digital zoom. ... The camera stores images and movies as JPEGs and 3gp files, respectively, within its 9 MB of user-accessible memory. The bad news is that the phone's connector is a proprietary Samsung design, and that it also doesn't accept any expansion cards. The good news, however, is that the phone features a unified file manager in addition to specific managers for individual file types, a feature that was sorely lacking on some of the other phones I have reviewed." |
